We started this adventure with a single core belief: technology must connect us in a more genuine way.
Curated photo carousels, idolizing those with large follower counts, and endlessly swiping on strangers nearby will never accomplish that mission. Those online substitutes are artificial destinations. They’re cheap, insufficient alternatives manufactured to draw you in with more gloss than substance.
We realized our solution needs to be a compass pointing people toward actually fulfilling, social experiences.
This can’t just be a time-limit feature that limits access, but a platform that opens access to an exciting world for you to rediscover. Our generation has grown up with social media increasingly persistent in our daily life. We’re being treated as the lab rats for massive technology platforms manufacturing shareholder-maximizing addiction. Platforms where we are the product, paying with our attention, our time, and often our well-being.
Whenever we feel lost building this, we come back to one fundamental question:
What do humans genuinely need to feel alive? Our answer has never changed.
When this chapter of our lives are over, it will be the experiences we lived and relationships we formed along the way that define it. We won’t remember the three-hour doom scroll. But we will remember the last-minute decision to brave an NYC blizzard to see a jazz band in a hidden speakeasy - with strangers who became friends.

Our mission is simple: to make going to fulfilling experiences with friends easier than ordering food through a delivery app. To make the world feel more exciting, welcoming, and attainable than any content feed. To help people find and connect with others through shared moments.
As our younger brother says: “I will make this a good day even if I have to mold it with my fucking hands.” We’re done waiting for someone else to change the system. So if you’re reading this, our humble request is that we don’t do it alone. This first phase of Avenu is deeply iterative.
